On Sunday 25th November the festive season started with a bang in Guiseley on Sunday 25th November as fireworks lit up the sky to celebrate the switching on of this year’s Christmas lights display.
Stuart, along with thousands of people turned up on Towngate to peruse the host of stalls selling all sorts of Christmas gift ideas and raising money for local good causes. A fairground entertained both you and and old and there was entertainment on the stage throughout the day.
Lisa Gallagher, the BBC weather presenter and her daughter joined the Lord and Lady Mayoress who pushed the plunger to light up the town following a countdown by the crowds.
This year’s display has seen many new additions including 1.2 km of lights on buildings along Otley Road, a new star at White Cross roundabout and a stunning manger and nativity scene at the cross on Towngate.
Stuart said: "Our event just gets better and better and the whole team have worked so hard. The displays are brilliant and despite the hard work it’s been great fun too. I would like to thank everyone who helped make Guiseley look so amazing on Sunday for the light switch on. Everyone’s hard work in the many weeks leading up to Sunday really paid off and everyone had great day.”
