Children from Leeds Youth Council met with Stuart Andrew, MP for Pudsey, yesterday to lobby for an improvement in youth services in Leeds and Bradford. Miriam Razzaque, 11, spoke with her local MP, Mr Andrew, to discuss her concerns about the lack of facilities for children and teenagers in Tyersal.
Stuart Andrew MP said ‘It was a pleasure to meet with Miriam and her fellow Youth Council member Mercedes Jaskolka and they raised a number of very important issues with me. It is worrying to hear that young people have few facilities in the Leeds area and I have contacted both Leeds and Bradford councils to find out what provision has been made in their budgets for youth services. I will assess these figures with other Yorkshire MPs and hope that we are able to provide some good news to the Youth Council.
‘It is great to see young people getting involved with politics and the Youth Council in Leeds performs a vital role in ensuring young people have a voice in Leeds City Council.’
