Stuart was delighted to have been invited to the Bradford Hindu Cultural Society’s Diwali dinner to celebrate the festival.
Stuart, along with 480 others celebrated the Diwali Festival with a dinner in Bradford, which also played homage to the sacrifices that the people of India made in the First World War as we approach 100 years since the end of the war.
Stuart said: “I’m proud to have attended the celebrations for Diwali. Events such as this emphasise to me the strength of diverse cultures within our community. I am glad that the event also highlighted the contribution of Indian soldiers in the First World War, a contribution, along with many other Commonwealth countries, which for so long has been overlooked on Armistice Day.”
