Stuart has today pledged his support for the Long Live the Local Campaign to help pubs in Pudsey keep their doors open. Stuart Andrew joins the more than 240,000 people who have signed the petition so far, including 398 in Pudsey alone. Brewing and pubs in Pudsey supports 1197 jobs and contributes £22.6m to the local economy.
Stuart said: “I have been contacted by a large number of constituents who are concerned about the issues affecting our pubs and I was pleased to be able to attend the Long Live the Local event and hear more about what can be done to help support pubs.
I was pleased to see our General Election Manifesto include a commitment to reviewing and reducing business rates for small businesses such as pubs, launch a £150 million Community Ownership Fund to help purchase community assets including pubs and review alcohol duty rates to ensure the tax system is supporting British alcohol producers and retailers. I am looking forward to the upcoming 2020 Budget and I will continue to encourage Ministers at HM Treasury to support our local pubs.”
