Stuart welcomes Special Adviser for Housing, Communities and Local Government to the constituency to discuss the Green Belt

Lee Scott, from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, visited the constituency on Friday 19th October to discuss, alongside Councillor Andrew Carter, the issue of Green Belt within the constituency. There was also a consultation with the Aireborough Neighborhood Development Forum about the issue. This issue has long been an important issue for Stuart and he has continually fought to save Green Belt land within the constituency from the Council’s plans after they identified a target of 66,000 homes to be built within the Leeds council area by the year 2028.

Stuart said: “Green Belt land is something that I always have, and always will, continue to aim to protect. I emphasised to the Special Advisor of the Minister for Housing, Communities and Local Government the importance of a realistic housing target being set. Furthermore, I emphasised the need for the local council to prioritise the development of brownfield sites. We have plenty of brownfield sites in the local area and would mean our green spaces are protected too, as long as a realistic target is set.”
