Leeds Youth Council Lobby Local MP in Parliament

Children from Leeds Youth Council met with Stuart Andrew, MP for Pudsey, yesterday to lobby for an improvement in youth services in Leeds and Bradford. Miriam Razzaque, 11, spoke with her local MP, Mr Andrew, to discuss her concerns about the lack of facilities for children and teenagers in Tyersal.

MPs Vote on EU Referendum

Last night MPs voted in the House of Commons on a motion which proposed a referendum on Britain’s EU membership. MPs shared their views in an informed debate on this controversial subject which was preceded by a statement from the Prime Minister. In total, 81 Conservative backbench MPs rebelled against the Government to vote in favour of a referendum.

A million jobs could be underpinned by investment in high-speed rail, according to a new study.The report by Volterra and Arup for the Core Cities Group, an alliance of local authorities from England's eight largest cities outside of London, says there is a "compelling" historical link between transport and economic prosperity, yet the UK lags behind its competitors in investing in infrastructure.
